BBSlink was created in early 2014 to allow sysops to easily add door games to their BBS. Other InterBBS door servers existed, but either have extremely complicated set up procedures, or are unnecessarily selective about the BBSes they accept.

BBSlink was created with the following principles:

• Free to use for all SysOps
• No selection criteria - just running a compatible BBS
• Simple to install for SysOps
• Seamless connectivity - no splash screens or compulsory menus before entering the door game
• Only offering registered doors

The service is run on a virtual private server located in a high speed data centre in Italy giving reliable, high-speed 24/7 access. All data is backed up to a dedicated backup server in France every night.

Originally designed for Synchronet BBS, 32-bit Windows and Linux clients are also available. A simple connection process connects the originating BBS to BBSlink by telnet which can deliver a caller straight to the BBSlink door.
